Up to 26,000 pallet spaces
Kardex Mlog implements fully automated logistics center for NÖM
The Austrian dairy NÖM AG has commissioned Kardex Mlog to build a fully automated dispatch warehouse and conveyor system. The new building will offer space for up to 26,000 pallets. As general contractor, Kardex Mlog is also coordinating the steel racking construction, the roof and wall cladding and the supply of two electric monorail systems. The ground-breaking ceremony took place on June 23, with acceptance scheduled for April 2027.
NÖM AG in Baden near Vienna offers a product range of around 1,000 items and supplies customers throughout Europe. The sales focus is on eastern Austria and northern Italy. With the current loading volume of an average of 2,200 pallets per day, logistics has reached its capacity limit. With the construction of the new dispatch warehouse, NÖM is responding to the dynamic growth in order volumes and the increased demands for speed and precision in the supply chain.
The project includes the construction of a new logistics center at the Baden site with a fully automated dispatch warehouse including conveyor technology. An electric monorail system is planned for the connection to the outgoing goods area. The system is controlled and organized via the SAP EWM material flow and warehouse management system. "The new building will not result in any additional sealing, as we are using an existing area and the direct connection to the new warehouse will save us over 10,000 truck journeys per year," emphasizes Josef Simon, Board Member for Production and Technology at NÖM AG and in charge of the new building.
"Kardex Mlog's numerous references with comparable tasks in the dairy industry were the main reason for choosing them. We were also impressed by the partnership-based approach of Kardex Mlog and the suppliers, who showed great interest in this project," emphasizes Christoph Posawetz, Logistics Manager at NÖM AG.
