Integration of a robotics solution
Lyreco modernizes logistics center in France
Lyreco is pressing ahead with the automation of its central site in Villaines-la-Juhel with an investment volume of over 25 million euros.
Lyreco has comprehensively modernized its logistics center in Villaines-la-Juhel in north-western France. The project, which has been underway since 2021, is a key part of the long-term transformation of the company's supply chain.
The site is considered one of Lyreco's most important logistics hubs in France. Around 60 percent of the approximately 50,000 shipments per day are handled from there.
The modernization focuses on a new 3,000 square metre warehouse and the integration of a robotics solution from French automation specialist Exotec. The system optimizes pallet preparation and outgoing goods on a large scale and should significantly improve throughput, process quality and planning.
Among other things, an automated system for sequencing outgoing goods flows, algorithms for sorting and pallet assembly and more than 100 Skypod robots that buffer and organize shipments before dispatch are used. This is complemented by ergonomic palletizing stations for user-friendly preparation.
With the changeover, Lyreco is strengthening its operational performance and at the same time improving working conditions through greater safety and efficiency for employees on site.
