DHL Express Germany relies on sorter solution from Vanderlande
Vanderlande has been commissioned to support DHL Express Germany with an automation solution for the new site project in Cologne. The system will be equipped with the new Spox sorter type. The agreement was signed on October 21 at Parcel+Post Expo 2025 in Amsterdam and marks the first installation of this sorter in a DHL facility.
With a sorting capacity of 6,000 items per hour, the Spox DHL Express Germany at the Cologne site enables the processing of a mixed stream of regular and small parcels - including items with a height of just 5 mm. The project also includes two chutes, nine truck exits and three van lines. As part of the overall package, Vanderlande will also implement PACE Sort - its in-house software for higher-level sorting control.
"This contract win reflects DHL's confidence in Vanderlande and demonstrates the strength of our long-standing partnership," says Markus Ehrmann, Executive Managing Director at Vanderlande. "We are very pleased to install the SPOX - our unique sortation solution built according to circular economy principles, offering our customers improved flexibility and accuracy."
"Vanderlande's solution enables us to manage the parcel flow with greater efficiency while sorting a wide range of shipments," adds Christian Knieps, Director of Engineering at DHL Express Germany. "As always, our team will work closely with Vanderlande during the installation phase to ensure a seamless integration before the system goes live in September 2026."
