Drones or UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) are conquering more and more areas of application in logistics and industry: whether as air support for securing a factory site, for surveying a construction site, as a flying eye for inspecting pipes and machines, in the field for detecting fertilizer requirements and plant health, as a transport drone or in the warehouse for stocktaking. Drones can also become an exciting addition to the portfolio of machine and plant manufacturers or support their own processes.

This is why the VDMA is currently establishing the Industrial Drone Solutions working group to bundle the economic and industrial aspects of drone technology for the entire industry. "For providers of drone solutions, it's all about economically viable application concepts and their public positioning. Mechanical engineering, in turn, benefits from ideas and know-how relating to drone applications. The VDMA working group brings this together and offers, among other things, the network to work on and strengthen these topics together," says Sascha Schmel, Managing Director of the new VDMA working group Industrial Drone Solutions.
