Automatic loading of sales displays
Sweet ready for sale
Ryll Transportanlagen has been offering solutions in the field of conveyor technology since 1978. The company produces, supplies and installs these. Ryll has now realized a system for a confectionery manufacturer with which sales displays can be loaded efficiently and ergonomically.
Within intralogistics, Transportanlagen Ryll GmbH has divided its specialist areas into three industry solutions: Hygiene & Food, Production & Packaging and Warehousing & Shipping. This enables the company to apply its knowledge effectively and specifically. From planning to installation and commissioning at the customer's site, everything comes from a single source. One of the company's projects: a system for the efficient filling of sales displays for a manufacturer in the confectionery industry. The customer required an installation that would enable chocolate bars to be put together in sales displays as economically and flexibly as possible. Displays are used for transportation and at the same time for retail presentation. Several displays are then combined to form a visually appealing sales stand that presents the manufacturer's various product ranges in a clearly visible manner. For economic reasons, the confectionery manufacturer produces several flavors of chocolate on one machine on consecutive days. For this reason, the chocolate bars are packaged and temporarily stored in large containers for in-house transportation after the production and packaging machines.
Manual workstation and automatic stacking system combined
This is where the task for Transportanlagen Ryll begins. The focus is on the following questions: "How can the various displays be loaded with the different flavors and how can this be done as effectively as possible?" A fully automated system was out of the question due to the changing product variations, product types and display sizes. The company therefore opted for a solution with a packing table system. This is tailored to the product and is ergonomically designed to meet the needs of the employees. The employees at the packing table system can reach their working environment with a minimum of movement. Each employee simply fills a display with, for example, four different types of chocolate. Once the display is completely filled, it is moved to a fully automatic stacking system. This part of the system stacks the displays on a cardboard base to form a sales display ready for delivery. This system combination of an ergonomic manual workstation and fully automatic stacking system creates the necessary efficiency and cost-effectiveness for the customer.
