Gerry Weber puts new logistics center into operation

The new Gerry Weber logistics center went into operation on December 15 as planned after a construction period of just 20 months. This marks the start of a ramp-up phase lasting around six months, during which the capacities in the new logistics center will be gradually increased. In the coming months, additional ancillary functions will be added in order to further optimize the individual logistics processes. The logistics center will be running at full capacity from summer 2016 and will handle up to 30 million parts per year. The capacity can be increased to 37 million parts per year if required.

Goods receipt buffer
Unsorted deliveries, e.g. consignments of different sizes, are split up at the incoming goods buffer.

Dr. David Frink, CEO of Gerry Weber International AG and responsible for logistics: "With our new logistics center, the currently decentralized logistics structures at the current locations in Ibbenbüren, Osnabrück, Brockhagen and Dortmund will be dissolved and now optimally bundled at one location. The hanging and flat-packed goods that are currently still in separate logistics locations and with different logistics partners will gradually be brought together in the new logistics center over the coming months.

Overall, we can handle deliveries to our customers and the individual stores more easily and control goods in a more targeted manner, but above all optimize time processes. The central consolidation into one warehouse enables us to react optimally to short-term trends and to get our goods to the individual areas even faster."

Gerry Weber currently uses seven logistics warehouses for all brands including Hallhuber. The integration of Hallhuber into the Gerry Weber Group's logistics will start in summer 2016, after all Gerry Weber brands have been integrated into the new logistics center.

Gerry Weber International AG's new logistics center at the new Ravenna Park business location is the largest single investment in the history of the international fashion and lifestyle group, with an investment volume for technology and buildings of around 90 million euros. The official opening ceremony will take place in spring 2016.
