Martin Schrüfer,

Encourage & make

What else is there to say or write at the end of such a year? Certainly not slogans. More or less elegantly worded obituaries about everything we planned to do this year and couldn't? Not to be done with me. So I'll stick to the facts and ignore the gloomy December weather and thoughts of 2021 for a moment.

You are looking at the special issue of materialfluss WELT DER INTRALOGISTIK, which has replaced the materialfluss MARKT issue since 2019. As you can easily see from the cover, the focus is once again on the PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR. The number of entries grew to a record-breaking 80 products and solutions in 2020, with awards being presented in eight categories this time. The editorial work on the nominees section (from page 23) was exciting - I was delighted to receive numerous nominations that are real highlights and will rock the market. The industry is by no means in a coronavirus depression, but is continuing to work on the intralogistics of the future, and the market is rewarding this! This is demonstrated by the second highlight of the issue: the new edition of the top 20 system integrators (from page 18). Here you can see not only the impressive dominance of German, Austrian and Swiss companies in intralogistics, but also that most companies did very good business in 2019. I bet it will be the same in 2020, which you can read about here in a year's time. Last but not least, I recommend that you read the economic survey: this time we have called it the Encouragement Survey - and asked managers what makes them optimistic for 2021.
