Divider protects big bags from forks
Flexible bulk containers, so-called big bags, can now be transported and stored more efficiently: Cabka-IPS is expanding its portfolio with the BigBag Divider. During handling, the load carrier protects the bags from the forks of industrial trucks. Big bags are popular for transporting and storing bulk goods.

However, proper handling of the containers presents logistics specialists with a number of challenges: Big bags filled with powder and granulate tend to flow easily, which can lead to sagging. If wooden pallets are used, nails, splinters or sharp edges are often involved. As a result, bags are quickly damaged and bulk material leaks out. The forks of forklift trucks can also become a problem. When unstacking pallets quickly, they often tear the big bags.
Fork shafts protect against damage

Transporting damaged containers costs time and money. Torn bags have to be repaired and spilled goods have to be disposed of. Cabka-IPS has recognized these challenges and developed a practical solution with the BigBag Divider. Its main element is the four-sided fork shafts, which enable safe and easy stacking and unstacking using industrial trucks. The special tunnel design protects the bags from coming into contact with the forks. These move smoothly in and out of the stable guides. The Cabka-IPS innovation is free of splinters and sharp edges, protecting the stacked bags from abrasion and tears.
The flat and stable support surface of the BigBag Divider is ideal for automatic roller conveyors. Special elevations at the edges prevent the bags from slipping and overlapping. This also reduces the risk of damage.
Versatile in use
The divider is robust and yet lightweight: its unladen weight is between 6.5 and 8.5 kilograms, depending on the dimensions and design. In total, it can carry up to 2.5 tons statically and up to 1.2 tons during transport. Thanks to its wide support surface, it also transports heavy loads safely and stably on the roller conveyor.

In demand
Material flow: Where did the impetus for the development of the BigBag Divider come from? Thorsten Lenz: "A large US company approached us because it was looking for a transport alternative to wooden pallets. There were also inquiries from other parts of the world that pointed in a similar direction. Thanks to our global presence, we were able to pool the information and develop the BigBag Divider with locally adapted variants. We then tested it locally together with our partners."MFL: What target group is Cabka-IPS aiming for with the BigBag Divider? Lenz: "The BigBag Divider can be used wherever bulk goods are transported or stored in big bags. Typically, these are the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries."
The BigBag Divider can be nested when empty: even a large number of load carriers can be stacked to save space. When not in use in the warehouse or when transported empty in trucks and sea freight containers, it only requires a small footprint. This optimizes the use of space and reduces CO2 emissions thanks to its low weight.
