Seal of quality for good design
Volvo Trucks wins Red Dot Award for the design of the Volvo FM
The "Red Dot" award has established itself internationally as one of the most coveted seals of quality for good design. The competition was established back in 1955 at the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen in Essen. Today's Red Dot jury consists of around 50 international experts.
The development of the new Volvo FM is based on extensive analyses and customer surveys, which confirmed the importance of drivers with regard to the profitability and image of transport companies. The design team therefore set out to create the best mobile office in the industry. The result is a versatile truck that is agile, spacious and, above all, safe and comfortable for all drivers.
"The Red Dot Award is a great recognition of the creative work of the Volvo Trucks design team. The award recognizes a well-balanced Volvo FM that also creates economic value for its owners. Through the pragmatic design of the exterior, the interior and its user-friendliness, we improve the everyday life of our drivers and the Volvo FM also helps to keep our society running," says Carin Larsson, Volvo Trucks Chief Designer UX.
The exterior design of the Volvo FM underlines its versatility for different applications. The cab has a new aerodynamic shape with clean, distinctive lines. In addition, the V-shaped headlights ensure optimal aerodynamics and the look: "The front grille with new grid pattern gives the vehicle a concise, self-confident look".The new Volvo FM was launched in 2020 together with the Volvo FH, Volvo FH16 and Volvo FMX. All four new truck models have been in series production since March 2021.
