Innovation Challenge
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: new collaboration with three start-ups
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will be working with three mobility start-ups in the future. The company will support the winners of the "Innovation Challenge" with a total of 150,000 euros as well as content.
The winning projects will be supported in terms of content and with an investment of 50,000 euros each. The three start-ups were able to assert themselves against the other competitors. Over 70 young companies from 16 countries competed against each other with their concepts for mobility, transportation or connectivity solutions. The winners of the "Innovation Challenge" are experts in charging solutions for electric vehicles and transportation solutions for the "last mile".
Chargery: Mobile charging solution
The Berlin start-up Chargery wants to tackle the problem of charging infrastructure for e-cars in cities. To this end, it relies on a mobile charging station on a bicycle trailer, using only green electricity. Together with VWN, a pilot project is now to be launched that focuses specifically on the decentralized charging of e-vehicles on construction sites.
ChargeX impresses with individual charging solutions
ChargeX develops individual charging solutions for electromobility. Aqueduct", the new product, is an innovative charging system in which the cost-intensive connection to the high-voltage current only has to be made once.
Cargo bike for the last mile
The Berlin-based mobility service provider ONO has developed an e-cargo bike that is specially tailored to the last mile. The design and flexibility were rated particularly positively. The e-cargo bike is loaded using a so-called swap container system, which avoids long loading times. "VWN will build a test fleet together with ONO and test product acceptance in real-life operation," said Artur Hasselbach, responsible for new business models in the "Smart Mobility and Transport" team at VWN and initiator of the "Innovation Challenge".
The VWN "Smart Mobility and Transport" team based in Berlin is developing digital business models for use in light commercial vehicles and has carried out the "Innovation Challenge".
