Thermo King service providers support with GDP-compliant equipment

The EU's Good Distribution Practice (GDP) directive requires medicines to be transported in accordance with storage conditions and therefore often at the right temperature. This calls for the use of vehicles with active temperature control. The German Thermo King service providers support pharmaceutical transporters in equipping their vehicles in accordance with GDP.

The spectrum ranges from vehicle upgrades to GDP qualification, in cooperation with external partners. "We advise our customers on the selection and equipment of pharmaceutical vehicles and organize the expansion and qualification," says Katrin Koch, spokesperson for the German Thermo King dealer network. "Our technicians draw up specifications with the requirements for the refrigeration system and vehicle technology, such as temperature recorders, insulation and air circulation. This is followed by implementation and qualification in accordance with the GDP directive." Overall concepts, which also include transport monitoring as well as certificate and data management, are therefore increasingly in demand. In addition, although the focus is still on long-distance transport, distribution transport is catching up. "On the last mile, we see a need to catch up in terms of technical equipment," says Uwe Rohlfs, Sales Manager at Thermo King GmbH, a transport refrigeration company based in Hamburg.
