Swissterminal and DP World enter into strategic partnership
DP World and Swissterminal Holding AG, the leading operator of container terminals in Switzerland according to the company, have entered into a strategic partnership.
With effect from January 23, DP World acquires 44% of the shares in Swissterminal Holding AG. The Mayer family, founder of the company, remains the main shareholder.
Terminal network expanded
Swissterminal and DP World expect their partnership to result in a significant competitive advantage and the expansion of both companies' leading positions. The partners anticipate that the cooperation will lead to a larger terminal network, increased efficiency and an expanded service portfolio. No structural changes are planned within the two companies as part of this transaction, and Roman Mayer will continue to act as CEO of Swissterminal.
Swissterminal, based in Frenkendorf near Basel, operates further sites in Zurich Niederglatt, Basel-Birsfelden, Basel-Kleinhüningen and Liestal.
