Renault Trucks hands over first e-truck to Carlsberg
On November 24, the President of Renault Trucks, Bruno Blin, handed over a D Wide Z.E. to the Managing Director of the Feldschlösschen brewery, a Carlsberg Group site, Thomas Amstutz, in Rheinfelden, Switzerland. It is the first vehicle in an order for twenty fully electric 26-ton trucks. Thanks to the use of electric trucks, the Carlsberg Group and the Feldschlösschen brewery are demonstrating that CO²-free distribution transport is possible.
Last February, Renault Trucks announced the signing of a contract with the Carlsberg Group for the delivery of twenty fully electric 26-tonne D Wide Z.E. trucks - a key step in the transformation of urban transportation. On November 24, 2020, Bruno Blin, President of Renault Trucks, handed over the first of twenty 100% electric D Wide Z.E. to Thomas Amstutz, CEO of Feldschlösschen.
"I am convinced that electric mobility is the solution to improve the quality of our environment and that of future generations," said Bruno Blin, President of Renault Trucks. "I am happy that Renault Trucks is accompanying the Feldschlösschen brewery and the Carlsberg Group - a group that is taking a pioneering role in investing in electric technology. The transportation sector is changing. In the next ten years, our industry will change more than it has changed in a century: with this partnership, Carlsberg and Renault Trucks are leading the way."
Thomas Amstutz, CEO of Feldschlösschen, continues: "We are proud to be the first Swiss and even the first European company to use zero-emission trucks for beverage transportation. Our aim is to become a key player in the production and distribution of beers and beverages, in logistics, but also in environmental protection.
The Feldschlösschen brewery and the Carlsberg Group, which are strongly committed to protecting the environment and combating global warming, have set themselves the goal of achieving distribution transport that produces noCO2 emissions. The brewery will achieve this goal in particular by using electric trucks for urban distribution transport that run on electricity from renewable sources. In addition, rail transport will increasingly be chosen for long-distance transportation.
Renault Trucks has a complete range of 100% electric vehicles from 3.1 to 26 tons. Transport companies that want to reduce their carbon footprint can already equip themselves with a fully electric truck from series production. Renault Trucks is currently one of the first commercial vehicle manufacturers to produce electric trucks as standard at its plant in Blainville-sur-Orne in Normandy.
