New technology for autonomous trucks in China
Trunk develops and sells combined hardware and software solutions for autonomous trucks. The company wants to be the first to go into series production with autonomous truck solutions for the container logistics market. Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH (RBVC), the Bosch Group's own venture capital company, has now invested in the start-up Trunk.
Trunk's solutions are based on artificial intelligence (AI) and are tailored to logistics applications such as container transportation within ports and between ports and warehouses. "Thanks to Trunk's unrivaled AI-based solution, goods can be transported around the clock - with very little human interaction. It is a key to fully automating logistics solutions," explains Dr. Ingo Ramesohl, Managing Director of RBVC. "This technology has strategic relevance for numerous Bosch solutions in the commercial vehicle sector."
As a full-stack supplier for truck manufacturers, Trunk develops fleet management and remote control software, among other things. This can be fully integrated into customer operating platforms such as terminal operating systems in ports. Trunk's detection, decision-making and planning modules offer high localization accuracy. Trunk uses special neural networks as well as inference and robotics technologies to tailor its solutions precisely to customer requirements. The start-up's customers include logistics giants such as the Port of Tianjin and Sinotruck.
"We are very pleased that Bosch is supporting us," says Zhang Tianlei, CEO of Trunk. "Bosch is a global leader in vehicle technology. Its investment will make us more competitive and enable us to provide our customers with even better services for professional self-driving trucks."
