750 tons of carbon dioxide saved
More sustainable painting line for Schwarzmüller
With the commissioning of a new painting line at the parent plant in Hanzing, Schwarzmüller was able to make the most energy-intensive process in vehicle production, painting, completely energy-efficient.
According to the company, energy recovery from the exhaust air from all three paint shops ensures that more than five gigawatts of energy are saved each year, 38 percent of the total energy requirement.
Sustainable operation
A few days ago, the trial operation of a new, 54 meter long,
automated painting line for moving floor vehicles at the Hanzing plant was successfully
was successfully completed. "The new painting line, in which we have invested one million euros
proves that we can also work sustainably with energy-intensive processes," says CEO
processes," said CEO Roland Hartwig today, June 10, at the company site in
company site in Freinberg near Schärding. "This not only pays off
for the environment, but also for us and our customers."
Well water instead of air conditioning
Smaller measures are also being taken to save even more energy and thus act in a climate-friendly manner. The kilometers of heat pipes in the more than 75,000 square meters of production space are insulated, and the lighting in all halls is currently being converted to LED lamps. Schwarzmüller also uses its own well water for cooling welding processes instead of an energy-intensive air conditioning system. The water is then reused to supply the company. "Through intelligent solutions in all areas of the company, we are creating greater efficiency and reducing the
consumption of resources," explains Hartwig.
Wood chips against carbon dioxide emissions
Avoiding carbon dioxide has been an issue at Schwarzmüller for two decades and the premium manufacturer of towed vehicles is also one of the pioneers in this area. "We have had our own wood chip plant since 2007," emphasizes Hartwig. "This could supply up to 4,500 households with thermal energy per year." This plant, for which the wood comes from the surrounding area, supplies both production and administration. In this way, 708 tons of carbon dioxide can be saved each year. The total carbon dioxide saving at the Hanzing plant after the improvements in the paint shop is calculated at 750 tons per year.
Lightweight construction saves carbon dioxide on every journey
One of the technical solutions for more sustainability in the products manufactured
include lightweight construction, which Schwarzmüller uses in all eight vehicle families. By reducing the tare weight, fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions during transportation are reduced.
