MAN plans to restart bus and truck production

After around six weeks of production downtime, the MAN Truck & Bus plants will gradually resume operations with reduced capacity from April 27. Here, too, the protection of employees has top priority, so extensive measures have been implemented in accordance with a detailed plan. These include ensuring greater distance between employees, modified routing and, where necessary, protective equipment as well as training and instruction for employees.

"Over the past few weeks, the crisis team has been working intensively on the framework conditions under which our plants can restart. The central challenges include the reliable supply of parts by our suppliers, as well as the organization of our own work processes while protecting our colleagues, but also measures to stimulate demand for commercial vehicles," summarizes Joachim Drees, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus SE. "Our suppliers come from all EU countries - we are therefore calling on politicians to support us with a coordinated approach at EU level to get back to work."

"The health and safety of our employees is of course our top priority. Accordingly, together with our health management team, we have taken many organizational measures to fully guarantee the necessary medical safety, hygiene and also the minimum distance between employees," adds Dr. Carsten Intra, Chief Human Resources Officer and Labour Director at MAN Truck & Bus SE.

"My respect goes out to those who were or remain on short-time working, as well as those who have held and will continue to hold their ground in FlexWork or on site. Many thanks also to all those who have volunteered their time in recent weeks," said Group Works Council Chairman Saki Stimoniaris. "Our MAN is a strong community with lived values. We stick together and will now work together again to emerge stronger from this situation," says Saki Stimoniaris, Chairman of the Group Works Council.

Some employees in both production and administration will initially remain on short-time working or make use of existing flexible working time arrangements and work from home where possible. The return to the office will also be staggered in compliance with the safety concept.
