Assistance systems for greater safety
Kühne + Nagel relies on turn-off assistants
In future, Kuehne + Nagel will only purchase vehicles equipped with a turn-off assistant for its land transportation fleet. The first 350 of the new fleet vehicles are to be deployed in Germany and France.
When procuring the vehicles, the company relies on various manufacturers in order to gain experience with different systems. Three different technical solutions are to be used for the turning assistant: optical, radar-based and ultrasonic systems. "Road safety is a key component of our sustainability strategy. The use of different systems will provide us with additional empirical values that we can use to further optimize the road safety of our fleet. This will help us to further increase acceptance of trucks as a high-performance means of transport. We are consciously focusing on particularly low-emission and energy-efficient machines," said Uwe Hött, Senior Vice President Land Transport at Kuehne + Nagel.
