Coronavirus in the logistics
IAA Commercial Vehicles 2020 canceled
Numerous travel restrictions, major events prohibited - Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the IAA 2020 cannot be held in its usual form, the organizers report.
The IAA Commercial Vehicles is the world's leading platform for transportation, logistics and mobility. As a global meeting place for experts and decision-makers from the entire transport and logistics industry, it thrives on its international character - for exhibitors and visitors alike. Direct personal exchange is at its core.
The health risks of the Covid-19 pandemic and the associated measures to contain it have fundamentally changed the initial situation for the IAA Commercial Vehicles. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown the public and many citizens in a special way how elementary commercial vehicles are for maintaining public life. In economic terms, the industry and the IAA are being affected like never before.
Travel restrictions are in place in many countries and will remain in place for several months. Major events are prohibited in almost all European countries in the coming months. Direct interaction at a trade fair is no longer compatible with the IAA's mission in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
Against this backdrop, the VDA has decided to cancel the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2020, which was scheduled to take place in Hanover from September 24 to 30. This was not an easy decision for the VDA. However, in view of the overall international and European situation, we do not see any possibility of holding the IAA this year in its usual form that is adequate for exhibitors and visitors.
The VDA immediately informed the many exhibitors who had already registered for the IAA 2020 of this decision, as well as all service providers, Deutsche Messe AG and all partners in politics and business. The VDA informed the exhibitors and service providers of the cancellation so early in order to minimize the economic impact on the companies. The next IAA Commercial Vehicles will take place in September 2022.
