Pilot project
Hyundai fuel cell truck to be launched in Switzerland in 2020
Hyundai plans to deliver the first trucks with environmentally friendly fuel cell drives in Switzerland as early as next year. Together with strategic partners, the company has also developed a business model to produce "green" hydrogen and establish a hydrogen supply throughout Europe.
H2 Xcient is the name of Hyundai's fuel cell truck. It was developed in accordance with European regulations and has a new 190 kW hydrogen fuel cell system with two 95 kW fuel cell stacks connected in parallel. According to the company, seven hydrogen tanks ensure a range of more than 400 kilometers.
50 hydrogen trucks in 2020, 1,600 by 2025
Hyundai plans to deliver the first 50 hydrogen trucks in Switzerland in 2020, with a total of 1,600 trucks to be delivered by 2025. The company will offer its H2 Xcient in a specially developed hydrogen ecosystem with the necessary infrastructure to members of the H2 Mobility Switzerland association and other transport and logistics companies that are promoting hydrogen mobility in Switzerland.
Environmentally friendly production of hydrogen
Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility (HHM) and the company Hydrospider have entered into a strategic partnership to ensure the production of hydrogen and the supply of carbon dioxide-free fuel. From the end of 2019, Hydrospider will produce the hydrogen required to operate the fuel cells in a new 20 MW electrolysis plant. The electricity required will be supplied by Alpiq's Gösgen hydropower plant.
