In 2018, the company's net turnover amounted to 5.57 billion euros. The number of shipments increased by 2.5 percent to 83.7 million, as in the same period of the previous year, while tonnage rose by 3.0 percent to 41.3 million tons. The general economic conditions are having a favorable effect on Dachser's growth. However, the company is also facing challenges: the shortage of drivers in logistics, the threat of capacity bottlenecks due to a lack of loading space and pronounced seasonal peaks, and growing uncertainties regarding diesel driving bans. Brexit could also change international trade relations, creating uncertainty. "The management of scarce resources has become the core discipline of logistics by 2018 at the latest," explains Bernhard Simon, CEO Dachser SE. "Against this backdrop, growth must be handled consciously and managed in such a way that quality, processes and costs remain in a healthy balance. Only sustainable growth can also benefit our employees and customers." In order to ensure further growth, the company invested a total of 126 million euros in logistics facilities, IT systems and technical equipment in 2018. The plan for 2019 is 234 million euros. The logistics service provider is countering the shortage of skilled workers in the industry with consistent training and can demonstrate success with regard to professional drivers, among other things.
