Erich Staake new member of the Logistics Hall of Fame
Duisport CEO Erich Staake enters the Logistics Hall of Fame. As the "modernizer of inland port logistics", he was voted into the international logistics hall of fame from among 30 candidates from nine nations.
Staake is thus the 35th member of the Logistics Hall of Fame. The manager from the Ruhr region will be officially inducted on December 5 at the annual Logistics Hall of Fame reception in the Erich Klausener Hall of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure in Berlin.
Duisport Europe's largest inland port
Erich Staake can claim to have led inland port logistics into a new era. On the basis of the logport concept, he has reinvented the Port of Duisburg as a multimodal logistics location and made it the largest inland port in Europe. According to the jury, Staake has not only significantly advanced logistics itself, but has also shown how logistics strengthens the economic power and quality of life of a region. Around 50,000 jobs have been created in recent years, 7,000 of them directly in the port.
Thanks to the logport concept, Duisburg has become an international logistics hub in less than 20 years
"Erich Staake is the man behind the 'miracle of Duisburg'. With his logport concept, in less than 20 years he accomplished a century-long task in logistics by transforming the Duisburg regional port into a leading logistics hub in Europe. He not only set a logistical milestone, but also gave Duisburg a new perspective," says Anita Würmser, Executive Jury Chairwoman of the Logistics Hall of Fame, explaining the jury's decision.
