ELVIS and SNAP simplify the search for a parking space

Europäischer Ladungsverbund Internationaler Spediteure AG, or ELVIS for short, wants to enable freight forwarders to better support their drivers during the coronavirus crisis with various services. ELIVS is working together with SNAP Account.

SNAP Account is a payment and booking platform for truck parking spaces and truck cleaning. The Safety Bag, consisting of hand and surface disinfectant and a multifunctional scarf that can be worn as mouth and nose protection as well as a headband, cap or scarf, is also designed to make everyday life a little easier for drivers. The safety bag is a new addition to the association's range.

Challenge: reorganizing supply chains
Many companies have to reorganize their extensive supply chains during the coronavirus crisis. Logistics plays a central role in this. "But the numerous restrictions and disruptions caused by the pandemic are also making life difficult for truck drivers," says Roger Haschka, SNAP Project Manager at ELVIS.

23,500 truck parking spaces missing nationwide
Even before the outbreak of the coronavirus, it was sometimes difficult for drivers to find a suitable place to park their vehicle. This is due to the tight parking space situation. According to a recent study by the Federal Highway Research Institute, there is a shortage of at least 23,500 truck parking spaces along freeways in Germany. The situation is further aggravated by corona-related restrictions. For example, the sanitary facilities at many service stations and rest areas are still closed. Catering is also limited in many places.

Parking space booking made easier
ELVIS has now concluded a framework agreement with SNAP Account to alleviate the resulting problems. ELVIS partners can use the smart payment and booking platform to book truck parking spaces along their transport routes simply by entering their license plate number and driver's name. This eliminates the time-consuming search for a suitable parking space. In addition, companies can market their own spaces profitably via SNAP. "In this way, we not only offer our partners the opportunity to do something for their drivers, but also to improve their revenue situation," explains Haschka. This service is currently offered at 223 service areas.
