Shelving system from OHRA
Weaving mill improves access to warps with cantilever racks
Getzner Textil Weberei, Gera, has changed the storage concept of its warp beam warehouse to storage in cantilever racks from OHRA. Now every warp beam can be accessed and damage is a thing of the past.
Getzner Textil Weberei, a subsidiary of Getzner Textil, is a jacquard weaving mill and produces clothing damasks for the West African region. The company's 233 employees produce several million running meters of raw material on 240 air-jet weaving machines. The warp threads required for this are wound up on a roller, the warp beam, and wait in the warp store to be used.
Originally, Getzner simply stored these warp beams on the floor in the basement of the production hall. However, this made direct access to individual warp beams difficult, and damage occurred time and again during storage and retrieval. In addition, the company had hardly any overview of the exact storage location.
Getzner therefore decided to revise the storage concept in 2018: Instead of floor storage, the warp beams were to be stored in a shelving system from OHRA. The company only uses full-wall steel profiles for all load-bearing elements of its racking. This gives them a high load-bearing capacity and stability. All cantilever racks are manufactured individually according to customer specifications, and a wide range of accessories allows the storage of a wide variety of goods.
For Getzner, OHRA equipped the 800 millimeter long cantilever arms, each of which carries up to 800 kilograms, with arm tubes. They gently prevent the warp beams, which are over 2.5 meters long, from rolling off the arms.

Modern storage technology and shelving systems
According to the company, Ohra is one of the market leaders in shelving systems for long goods or heavy loads.
OHRA has supplied and installed a total of three cantilever racks to date. The three racks, which are up to 25.2 meters long, offer space for a total of 124 warp beams weighing up to 800 kilograms. The rack uprights - between 2.3 and 2.9 meters high - were adapted to the room height in the basement so that the space is optimally utilized. Expansion of the warehouse with further cantilever racking from OHRA is already in the planning stage.
