As the operator of the online store HD-Toner, Trensco GmbH in Uelzen, Lower Saxony, is one of Germany's leading suppliers of ink and toner cartridges for all common printer models and brands, according to the company. The product range also includes a wide range of office supplies and other products, which are picked immediately after receipt of the order and delivered via parcel services.

Growth makes expansion necessary
Over the past few years, Trensco's business volume has grown continuously, making an expansion of the warehouse and office capacities unavoidable. The project was divided into three construction phases: First, a new hall with 1,500 square meters of floor space was built on the existing company premises last year, followed by the expansion of storage capacity in an existing hall measuring around 1,000 square meters. Finally, another warehouse with 600 square meters of floor space was completed in 2019.

Tight time frame
In order to be able to use the additional capacity quickly, the timeframe for the realization of the overall project was relatively tight. The framework for the storage technology installations was clearly defined: to create the largest possible and most flexible storage capacity for a very heterogeneous range of products, taking into account special structural requirements and a complex fire protection concept. In competition with other providers, only Lagertechnik Hahn & Groh was ultimately able to guarantee the fulfillment of all specifications, and at an attractive price-performance ratio.

Flexible for different containers
The first of the new Trensco halls was equipped by Lagertechnik Hahn & Groh in the fall of 2018 with a 722 large racking system including a connected system platform, each in a 3-storey design. The extra-large shelf bay width of 2,000 x 800 mm allows a high degree of flexibility when handling different container dimensions. In addition, the 5,800 mm high platform construction has four offices integrated on the 1st floor of the system platform.

In a second step, the capacities of an existing hall were significantly expanded with the installation of a 490 square meter racking system in a two-storey design. The second new hall also offers plenty of space for Trensco's expanded product range. Over the past few months, a 275 square meter, 3-storey storage platform and a pallet racking system with around 430 storage spaces have been built there.

The racking systems chosen in all cases were products from the French manufacturer Manorga: Epsivol shelving platforms, which allow existing storage space to be easily extended by building additional storeys, Epsirack racking for storing palletized loads and other goods, and Manorga PF04 storage platforms. In addition to supplying and installing the racking systems, Lagertechnik Hahn & Groh was also responsible for the entire system and hall lighting, which offers high energy efficiency with optimum light output.
