Packaging warehouse for ElringKlinger
In June, ElringKlinger Logistic Service GmbH put a new packaging warehouse for gasket set components into operation at its distribution center in Rottenburg am Neckar. It was realized by SSI Schäfer. The solution provider erected a three-storey shelving racking system for this purpose. The multi-storey system is supported by the R 3000 shelving system. The frame system design and the variable plug-in system without fixed base, cover and shelves or beams allows the shelving bays to be designed completely freely. In future, a total of 38,000 SKUs will be stored in the shelving system and 1,000 picks per day will be made in two-shift operation. When an order is received, the required parts are picked directly from the racking system, packed at packing stations and dispatched. As the facility is located in earthquake zone two, special attention was paid to fire protection and statics. "The statics were adapted with appropriate reinforcements and seismographic shelf feet - for a firmer connection between the base plate and the shelf. This means that the system can withstand light to medium earthquakes without any problems," says Herbert Hohlmayer, Regional Sales Manager at SSI Schaefer.
