Cantilever racking for sheet metal storage
More capacity and overview with Ronge Profil
In the new production facility of Ronge Profil GmbH in Alfeld near Hanover, the 300 to 400 tons of sheet metal required for the production of metal façade elements are stored in cantilever racks from OHRA.
ith their high load capacities and a stand height of 7,270 millimetres, the racks offer a significantly higher storage capacity than the racking system used at the old site. Gratings on the cantilever arms enable the flexible storage of a wide variety of sheet metal formats and load carriers. The storage system has also enabled Ronge Profil to reduce the costs of storing and retrieving the sheets.
The storage solution used at Ronge Profil's old site no longer fitted in with the concept of the modern production hall designed according to Industry 4.0 standards. Due to the relatively low storage capacities offered by the old system, double occupancy of individual storage locations was necessary - this not only hindered storage and retrieval, but also made it difficult to keep track of the stored sheets.
Ronge Profil decided to install cantilever racks from OHRA in order to have quick access to the 1,000 x 2,000 millimeter to 2,000 x 6,000 millimeter sheets in the new production facility. They differ from the standard in that they use full-wall steel profiles for all load-bearing elements. This is the basis for the high load-bearing capacity and slim design of the racks, which enables compact storage on a small footprint.
A total of seven single-sided cantilever racks between 3.6 and 76.5 meters long are now located in Ronge Profil's modern production hall. On a total of ten storage levels - the highest is at a height of 6,800 millimeters - they offer sufficient storage capacity to flexibly supply production with the necessary sheet metal. Double storage is no longer necessary.
The individual advice from OHRA's experts helped to customize the shelving to Ronge Profil's requirements. This made it possible to tailor the racking to the hall situation and achieve the greatest possible storage capacity. The gratings enable the flexible storage of different sheet metal formats, bulky parts and non-standardized load carriers.
