High-bay racking system for pipes opened in Duisburg
A modern central warehouse with Europe's largest high-bay racking system for pipes has been opened at Benteler Distribution Deutschland in Duisburg. At the heart of the new warehouse is the fully automated Kasto Unicompact 3.5 long goods storage system, which, with a height of 25 meters and 10,000 cassette locations, is the largest in Europe.
is the largest facility in Europe for the storage of pipes. Benteler Distribution has thus more than doubled its storage capacity. In future, up to 27,000 tons of pipes will be stored in the central warehouse at the touch of a button and retrieved again as required. After unloading, the cassettes of the high-bay racking system are filled with pipes at the storage stations and are automatically fed into the system. Depending on the order, two computer-controlled Kasto storage and retrieval machines move down the rack and place the cassette at one of the picking stations. The pipes are then cut to size, packed, prepared for dispatch, loaded onto the truck and transported to the customer.
