Complete package for Liebherr-Logistics

Liebherr-Logistics built a new warehouse at the Oberopfingen site. Gebrüder Schulte equipped this with a complete package: Pallet racking, cantilever racking and shelving were installed in all three sections of the new building within a very short space of time.

Liebherr-Logistics GmbH (LGG) is a division of the Liebherr Group, which comprises a total of 13 divisions in various industries such as earthmoving and maritime cranes with over 140 plants. LGG needed additional storage space at short notice for 2024. The three-part warehouse built for this purpose will be used to store and pick a wide range of goods, from excavator parts weighing several tons to sealing rings weighing just one gram. LGG opted for a warehouse concept from Schulte for this purpose.

"Schulte has assured us that we will have exactly one point of contact from the planning phase through to implementation and aftersales. I don't know where else you can find that these days - it's an absolutely unique selling point that won us over," says Bianca Dreher, Project Planner Logistics at LGG, explaining the decision in favor of Schulte. "And the contact person was really available to us at all times. Minor or last-minute questions were clarified immediately on the phone, which was great."

Three shelf types for a special storage solution

To meet the complex demands on the warehouse, the Schulte team developed a solution with three different types of shelving. The new shelving system is over seven meters high and, with over 20 levels at different heights, offers plenty of space for small and very small parts. Schulte installed over 10,000 Multiplus shelves with the new ML50 multifunctional upright. The special feature: the shelving system can be automated if required.

Pallet racks were also installed, offering storage space for up to 3,780 pallets at a height of up to 7.5 meters. The dimensions of the individual storage locations were planned together with the customer so that a suitable rack location can be found for every type of goods. The third component in the warehouse solution is over 300 meters of cantilever racking. These can be used to store and transfer particularly bulky and heavy goods. Together with the other rack types, they ensure flexible storage and fast order picking.

In order to tailor the storage solution precisely to Liebherr's requirements, Schulte employees coordinated with the customer throughout the entire planning and implementation phase. "Communication was exemplary throughout the entire project and the result is excellent. It's hard to believe how quickly Schulte was able to deliver and install such high quality," says a delighted Kilian Ribhegge, Operations and Logistics Manager at LGG. "Even a detail like the waste separation on the construction site made a positive impression on me. I've never seen it so tidy!" The complete package of pallet, shelving and cantilever racking is now in place in LGG's new hall. The collaboration with Schulte was a complete success for the Liebherr family business.
