After years of successful transport management with WinSped, the logistics service provider has now placed the administration of the software in the hands of the IT experts from Greven. The transport management system (TMS) was converted from Oracle to SQL servers, which are hosted in LIS's own data center in Greven, Münsterland. Using a web client, the logistics provider's employees can access WinSped from any computer via the Internet and enter or edit data. With 80 users, LGI is currently one of the largest LIS customers using the data center.

"With the LIS Cloud, we offer our customers added flexibility and service," says Rolf Hansmann, member of the Management Board of LIS Logistische Informationssysteme AG. Instead of installing it on the user's hardware, the TMS provider makes the entire WinSped software environment available on its own servers. Application Service Providing (ASP) makes it possible to access the programs via a browser at any time and from any location. All administrative tasks such as performance monitoring, updates, data backup and maintenance are carried out centrally by LIS technicians. "This eliminates high maintenance costs for the hardware and customers do not have to ensure that the system works themselves," adds Hansmann.

LGI has been an LIS customer for over six years. The logistics service provider uses WinSped to handle transportation in the automotive sector. The increased flexibility prompted the company to host the system directly with the TMS provider. In order to disrupt transport processes as little as possible, LIS moved the program to the Greven data center during the night from a Saturday to a Sunday. The very next day, 80 employees were able to access WinSped via the Internet with password protection. The integration of additional persons or business units is possible at any time.
