Best-practice warehouse software solution for SMEs
Bito-Lagertechnik is expanding its product portfolio with a warehouse software solution for the digital control of warehouse processes and inventory management. With Pulpo WMS, the specialist for warehouse technology and intralogistics solutions now offers a warehouse management system that is tailored to the requirements of warehouse processes in e-commerce and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as an easy-to-implement and easy-to-use best-practice solution.
"Today, warehouse technology and warehouse software belong together as an inseparable unit. However, we have found that the e-commerce sector in particular, as well as many small and medium-sized companies, do not usually need huge, complex, configurable software. For them, it is important that the software is specialized for the requirements in their warehouse, but can be easily integrated into the processes and just as easily operated. And this is exactly where the WMS developed by Pulpo comes in," says Georg Möbius, Business Development WMS Bito-Lagertechnik.
The company became aware of Pulpo in 2021 in collaboration with the Bito Campus, the innovation unit of the warehouse technology expert. The innovative approach of the cloud-based WMS software solution, which is made available to users via plug & play, its state-of-the-art technical design, the best-practice range of functions and, in particular, the simplicity of implementation, configuration and intuitive operation were convincing.
The Pulpo WMS warehouse management software is now being offered by Bito as a cooperation product to further round off its comprehensive range in the manual warehouse sector and to meet customer demand for a smart, uncomplicated and cost-effective software solution.
Standardized warehouse processes efficiently digitized on a best practice basis
The WMS supports companies in managing their warehouses effectively and efficiently, increasing transparency in the warehouse and optimizing warehouse processes by minimizing order throughput times and error/return rates and reducing costs. The cloud-based solution standardizes warehouse processes as a best-practice solution and is aimed in particular at companies that manage with simple, clearly structured processes, as is usually the case in the e-commerce sector and with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Taking into account the various warehouse and route optimization strategies, the warehouse management software digitizes all relevant workflows required in the warehouse for process optimization and inventory management. It maps warehouse structures such as zones, shelves, storage locations, etc., manages master data, stocks, orders and internal transport, monitors key figures and displays the processes for incoming and outgoing goods. All operational warehouse processes are handled via mobile devices. Processes such as putaway, picking or stock transfer and all administrative warehouse processes, such as the creation of orders or the evaluation of key figures, are carried out by the user on the computer.
The warehouse management software can be used independently, but can also be connected via interfaces to higher-level host systems, such as an ERP or merchandise management system or an online store system.
Simple, cloud-based and cost-effective WMS software solution as plug & play
The main advantage of the cloud-based warehouse software is that it can be implemented quickly and easily as a low-threshold plug & play solution. The Pulpo WMS is usually implemented in existing system landscapes via an API connection. The internal technical infrastructure remains unaffected and there is no need to set up a costly and maintenance-intensive IT infrastructure such as servers or databases. As a web application, the software can be operated intuitively and is controlled via an app in the mobile area. This means that the training required for the application is also very low, which also saves costs. The Warehouse Management System is also offered as a highly flexible and comparably cost-effective license model.
