However, linking the two in a coherent and efficient manner requires continuously developing expertise. Against this backdrop, concentrated software know-how - represented by 70 international experts from SSI Schaefer - met for an intensive exchange on future and development topics at the Austrian software competence center in Friesach near Graz.

Software that connects and moves

In the face of increasingly demanding markets and customer requirements, companies and their logistics must be dynamic and adaptable in order to remain competitive and implement new, lucrative business models. In this context, SSI Schaefer's WAMAS logistics software acts as a clock generator for modern intralogistics systems and processes, where one cog meshes smoothly with the other. "For almost 30 years, WAMAS has been driven by the expertise of our 1,100 software experts and underpinned by worldwide success," says Martin Frischenschlager, Vice President of Product Line Software. "We have enjoyed a close partnership with many customers for years, often decades. It is this success that spurs us on to look ahead together and become even better."

Forging ideas and ensuring sustainable customer success together

With the new "Software Summit" format, SSI Schaefer is once again expanding the associated commitment. The invitation to Friesach was accepted by 70 employees from countries including Spain, Italy, Denmark, Brazil, Mexico and the USA. Under the motto "connect-exchange-evolve", the speakers provided insights into best practice examples, new strategies and forward-looking solutions. "Right now, it is extremely important that we once again create an intensive personal exchange across national borders. With this event, which will take place annually from now on, we want to promote cooperation between the global divisions, sharpen common goals and expectations and discuss key aspects of our software strategy," explains Martin Frischenschlager. "We have a unique team of employees from the areas of software development, consulting, product management and project implementation with an enormous amount of expertise. You can feel the positive spirit and drive - and that's exactly what we need to offer our customers the best solutions. Today and in the future."

Cross-divisional thinking and action as a driver for innovation

To ensure that customers achieve their return on investment in the shortest possible time, it is SSI Schaefer's task to provide and implement future-oriented software technology that not only ensures the required performance and efficiency, but also the longevity of a chosen warehouse logistics solution. Regular WAMAS product releases contribute to this, incorporating the results of a constant exchange between experts - from product development to sales and implementation. The focus is on two key topics:

  • Increased modularization and standardization of the software - enriched by maximum flexibility and the possibility of tailor-made adaptation to individual business processes.
  • Increased digitalization and connectivity along the supply chain in order to optimally control complex automated processes using real-time analyses, smart data processing and optimization algorithms and to ensure seamless transparency.

As a result, WAMAS is far more than just a warehouse management system (WMS). The standard software combines all the performance modules of an intralogistics system into a reliable, scalable and seamless overall solution. At the same time, WAMAS offers numerous options for flexible, tailor-made customizing. In addition, the end-to-end transparency gained is now more important than ever in order to make companies' intralogistics more resilient and agile thanks to intelligent features.
