Second Chance

The "design to second use" was implemented in an exceptionally aesthetic and clever way in this prototype for glass jar packaging. The further use of beautifully shaped glass packaging containers is disturbed by the threaded closure elements of the lid connection, which are usually not very attractive. Students Daniela Betz, Sophia Huber and Felicia Kopitzke have tackled this problem and developed a great solution: A conventional standard thread is dispensed with. Machine gripping of the glass (which is compatible with standard lids) is made possible by cut ellipses (in the second row on the glass).

The jury was impressed by the exceptionally smart and visually graceful integration of the jar's closure elements into the 3D design concept.
