New board members elected to the European logistics network ASTRE
For the first time, the new board of the logistics network ASTRE is made up of representatives from all four European national companies. Ulf Tonne, Managing Director of ASTRE DACH (pictured), is now a member of the 18-strong board for the DACH region. The other board members include Giuseppe Curcio (ASTRE Italia), Luc van Mieghem (ASTRE Benelux/UK) and Henrique Elvas Martins (ASTRE Iberica). Denis Baudouin, the President of ASTRE, was also re-elected. The entire board thus reflects the pan-European cooperation of Europe's largest logistics network.
The new Executive Board met for the first time in October 2020 and has been elected for four years. This year's election took place under difficult conditions due to the pandemic, with many votes being cast by postal vote or delegation. "I would like to thank all members for the trust they have placed in us. I am sure that with such a diverse Board, we are well equipped for the tasks ahead and will continue to expand ASTRE's activities together in order to strengthen and support our members in the current times," says Ulf Tonne.
Denis Baudouin sees the internationality of the board as an important element for the success of the network: "ASTRE is the leading grouping of transport and logistics companies in Europe. Our projects are ambitious and the new team working alongside me is made up of experts from all over Europe. We will continue to develop ASTRE as a model of cooperation, putting customers even more at the heart of our future projects, while remaining true to our principles of solidarity, diversity, European solidarity and responsible entrepreneurship."
On the one hand, the new CEO is responsible for ASTRE Coopérative, the central unit for access to the partner network, direct transports and the part-load network as well as central purchasing. He is also in charge of ASTRE Commercial, the operator of the Palet system and responsible for the marketing of transport and logistics services.
