Federal Association of German Inland Navigation
Matthijs van Doorn joins the BDB Board of Directors
Matthijs van Doorn, Logistics Manager at the Port of Rotterdam Authority, has become a member of the Board of the Federal Association of German Inland Navigation (BDB).
The Federal Association of German Inland Navigation represents the interests of companies in the freight shipping and passenger shipping sectors vis-à-vis politicians, administration and institutions. In 2016, the Port of Rotterdam Authority became the first foreign organization and foreign seaport to become a member of the BDB, which was founded in 1974. Van Doorn explained: "The port of Rotterdam has grown thanks in part to inland shipping. With our seat on the board, the Port of Rotterdam Authority shows how important we consider inland shipping to be and how important Germany is for us in the European hinterland. Being a member of the BDB promotes transnational cooperation on cross-border issues that are important for inland shipping: Sustainability, digitalization, low water issues and traffic congestion."
