The Supervisory Board of Rhenus SE & Co. KG has appointed Karsten Obert as a member of the Management Board with effect from January 1, 2021. Within the Management Board, he will be responsible in particular for the further development of the Automotive and Warehousing Solutions business units. "I'm delighted that we've succeeded in appointing Karsten Obert to the Rhenus Group's Management Board. With his many years of experience in the management of a global automotive supplier and his position of responsibility at a leading e-commerce company, he knows our customers and their needs. I'm sure that Mr. Obert will complement and strengthen the Rhenus Management Board very well and can provide important new impetus in his management role for the Automotive and Warehousing Solutions business areas," said Dr. Marco Schröter, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rhenus SE & Co.
After almost 20 years as a member of the Rhenus Group's Management Board, Michael Brockhaus has decided to step down on March 31, 2021. Michael Brockhaus started as Chief Financial Officer in 2002 and has been in charge of the Warehousing Solutions and Automotive divisions since 2008. During this time, the Rhenus Group has increased its turnover fivefold and continued to position itself globally. Mr. Brockhaus will remain closely associated with the Rethmann family business as a future member of the SARIA Supervisory Board.
"We would like to thank Mr. Brockhaus very much for his many years of tireless and successful work for the Rhenus Group. Mr. Brockhaus has always been able to demonstrate his management expertise in both good and difficult times. Mr. Brockhaus was always a highly valued discussion partner for the Supervisory Board," Dr. Schröter continued.
Karsten Obert is looking forward to his new role: "Rhenus is a group of companies with great potential. I can use the strength of the comprehensive business portfolio with overland transportation, air & ocean, European port activities and a global offering in the warehousing and automotive sectors to help expand the global top 20 position. Especially after the COVID-19 experience, customers will pay even more attention to the financial and environmental sustainability of their service providers. The family-owned company Rhenus offers the best conditions for this."
Karsten Obert is 45 years old, married and has two children. He will carry out his duties from the Rhenus headquarters in Holzwickede, North Rhine-Westphalia.
