Frank Smet before the farewell
CCO of Hamburg Süd retires
Frank Smet, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Hamburg Süd, will retire at the end of March after around 27 years with the company. Smet, who has worked for over 40 years in the shipping industry - including in Brazil, Chile, Australia and Hong Kong - has been a member of Hamburg Süd's Executive Board since 2012. He was initially responsible for the Network, Operations and Logistics divisions before taking over responsibility for Sales and Customer Service in 2017.
"With Frank Smet, a globally respected shipping expert who knows the business like no other and has achieved a great deal for Hamburg Süd is leaving the company," said Dr. Arnt Vespermann, CEO of Hamburg Süd. Smet has been involved in several takeovers and integrations and has been instrumental in driving the shipping company's rapid growth.
Dr. Arnt Vespermann will be responsible for customers as CEO. "Our particularly close relationships with our customers, the personal contact and our deep understanding of their business are what make the Hamburg Süd brand. I am therefore very much looking forward to this important task," says Vespermann.
