On August 8, the Port of Rotterdam Authority presented the newly founded company PortXchange. The aim is to make the digital transport app Pronto accessible to all ports in the world.

PortXchange is to test Pronto in several ports outside the Netherlands together with strategic partners Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited ("Shell") and A.P. Moller - Maersk.

Networking in port operations

Pronto offers a collaborative platform that can be used by transport companies, shipping companies, agents, terminals, port operators and other (nautical) service providers. These companies can plan, execute and monitor all processes during a port call based on the exchange of standardized data. In addition, Pronto enables the just-in-time arrival of ships at the perfect time, which reduces carbon emissions.

"Optimizing the potential of digital solutions"

"By making our app accessible to ports worldwide, we can optimize the potential of digital solutions for the benefit of the maritime community. The more ports use smart solutions, the more valuable they become. The establishment of a separate company for the global roll-out of Pronto is an excellent example of such an approach," explains Allard Castelein, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority.

PortXchange has already signed the first partnership agreements with the transport companies Shell Shipping & Maritime and A.P. Moller - Maersk. Castelein: "Pronto will be launched in European and US ports before the end of the year. In the coming years, we want to make Pronto accessible to ports worldwide. Partnerships with major international players such as Shell and Maersk are key to making Pronto a global success."
