duisport is "Excellent training company 2016"
"Qualified and committed employees are a key element of sustainable corporate development. This is why we are increasingly focusing on recruiting specialists for the various business areas and specifically promoting young, committed junior staff in our eight apprenticeships. Certification in this area is particularly important for this reason and confirms that we have taken the right path for our training program," says Erich Staake, Chairman of the Executive Board of Duisburger Hafen AG.
The "Excellent training company" initiative was launched at the beginning of 2013. In the current certification phase, more than 100 companies with over 4,000 trainees and dual students have already taken part in the "ertragswerkstatt" initiative. In order to receive the certification, the duisport Group - together with numerous other companies - has undergone an assessment of its own trainees over the past few months with regard to their training situation. In an anonymous survey, they answered around 100 detailed questions about the quality of their training. The topics covered included the content of the training, how trainees are treated in the company and their future prospects. In cooperation with the companies' HR managers, important key figures such as the number of trainees taken on and the drop-out rate were also collected.
"By combining these key figures with the assessment of the trainees, young people receive reliable information about how good a training company actually is," says business psychologist Judith Grefe from "ertragswerkstatt", which is responsible for awarding the seal. This is because only companies that receive good grades from their trainees and are particularly committed to training are "Excellent Training Company 2016". A prerequisite for participation was that the companies had to train at least 5 apprentices. "This was important to us, as it was the only way we could carry out an anonymous survey in which the trainees could answer openly and honestly," Judith Grefe continues. The duisport Group is now the first company in Duisburg to receive the "Excellent Training Company 2016" seal. Tilo Schneider, Head of Human Resources at the duisport Group, emphasizes: "It is important that duisport is able to score points with a good employer image from the initial training of young people, as this is a sustainably successful way to counter the potential shortage of skilled workers in the future." red
