Inauguration
Noerpel opens logistics terminal in Giengen
After just eight months of construction, the Noerpel Group celebrates the inauguration of its new logistics site in Giengen an der Brenz in Baden-Württemberg, around 30 kilometers north-east of Ulm. Judith Noerpel-Schneider opened the 45,000 square meter terminal together with Lord Mayor Dieter Henle. With the new facility, the logistics service provider is expanding its logistics space in the Heidenheim area to around 116,000 square meters, positioning itself as the largest provider in the region.
The new terminal is located directly at the Giengen junction of the A7 highway. The property includes 39,000 square meters of warehouse and logistics space, 5,000 square meters of mezzanine space and more than 1,500 square meters of office space.
The warehouse has space for over 60,000 racking spaces, while the warehouse mezzanine offers block storage space with a load capacity of 1.5 tons per square metre. Equipped with a WHG-compliant foil and an extinguishing water retention system, the property is suitable for storing a wide variety of goods. The entire facility was completed after a construction period of just eight months.
With the new building, the company now has three logistics locations in the Heidenheim area with a total of 116,000 square meters of space: Noerpel now operates two terminals in Giengen an der Brenz, each with around 45,000 square meters of usable space, and a logistics facility in Heidenheim with 25,000 square meters. "Well-equipped warehouse and logistics space is still in high demand, as manufacturers and retailers are increasing their inventories," explains Berthold Bernecker, Managing Director Logistics. "With our space offering, we are meeting the high demand, strengthening the supply infrastructure in the region and thus helping to reduce dependence on international supply chains."
Start of operations in Giengen II
At the turn of the year, the Noerpel Group starts operations in the second logistics terminal in Giengen. The first customer projects will move in over the next few weeks - including existing customers who are expanding their cooperation with the company, as well as new customers. The goods stored in the hall will then include goods from the medical sector, the games industry and the pet food industry, for example.
The property was built in accordance with the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The hall will have a green roof and preparations are also underway for the installation of e-charging points. A multi-storey parking lot with parking spaces for employees is also planned on the site. Around 80 new jobs will be created in the new logistics terminal - the Noerpel Group expects more than 120 employees to work here in the future.
Logistics as the engine of the economy
The Noerpel Group welcomed around one hundred guests to the inauguration ceremony, including the Lord Mayor of the town of Giengen an der Brenz, Dieter Henle. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of logistics for the location as well as the close partnership. Dieter Henle: "I am delighted that the Noerpel Group is offering industrial companies in the region individual logistics services in this attractive property after a short construction period! The cooperation with you is running smoothly; against this background, it is particularly nice that you are present in the Giengen A7 industrial park in this way."
Judith Noerpel-Schneider, member of the Noerpel Group management board, opened the new logistics facility together with Dieter Henle. "We are proud and happy that we can now really get started at our second location in Giengen," said Judith Noerpel-Schneider. "I would like to thank everyone who has actively contributed to making this such a success - our employees, the town, the project developers and the construction company!"
In 2022 alone, the Noerpel Group created over 83,000 square meters of logistics space: 25,000 square meters were created in Odelzhausen, 13,500 square meters in Singen and 45,000 square meters in Giengen an der Brenz. "With our space development and our range of services consisting of combined forwarding and logistics solutions, we are optimally positioned for our customers and their needs," explains Judith Noerpel-Schneider.
Noerpel donates for the Sternenkässle 2022
To mark the opening of the Giengen site, the Noerpel Group donates 5,000 euros to the 'Sternenkässle' campaign alliance. Noerpel is thus making a contribution to charitable projects in the neighborhood and underlining its commitment to the region.
Under the name 'Sternenkässle', the town of Giengen organizes a major fundraising campaign every year in the run-up to Christmas. The special thing about it: The citizens of the town vote in advance on which social projects the money collected should be used for. A look at last year shows just how successful this fundraising campaign is: Sternenkässle 2021 raised a total of 27,884.81 euros.
