Garbe Industrial Real Estate builds for Amazon in Erding
Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH is developing a sorting center for Amazon in Erding, 30 kilometers north-east of Munich. Earthworks for the new building with a floor area of around 5,200 square meters have already begun.
The property should be ready for occupancy in the second quarter of 2022. "The exchange with the city administration worked smoothly throughout the entire planning process for the project," says Jan Dietrich Hempel, Managing Director of Garbe Industrial Real Estate, emphasizing the good cooperation with the city of Erding. The sorting center is being built on a 27,000 square meter site in the Erding-Nordwest industrial estate. The online retailer will sort parcels with customer orders by zip code at the site and transport them from there to the distribution centers by truck. Amazon will create up to 150 new jobs on a floor area of around 5,200 square meters for handling. Parking spaces for trucks, cars and bicycles are planned for the outdoor area.
The business park is located in the Erdinger district of Klettham, just a few hundred meters from the airport tangent. It connects the site with Munich Airport, twelve kilometers away, and the Munich - Deggendorf 92 freeway. Numerous destinations in the Munich area can also be reached quickly via the nearby federal highway 388 Ismaning - Greater Passau. "With the construction of the sorting center in Erding, we are continuing our long-standing, successful collaboration with Amazon," says Jan Dietrich Hempel.
The Hamburg-based project developer has already built logistics centers for the online retailer in Dortmund and Achim near Bremen as well as distribution centers in Emden, Kaiserslautern and Meßkirch in the Lake Constance region. The distribution center in Giengen an der Brenz in the east of Baden-Württemberg is currently under construction. Completion is scheduled for April next year. The real estate service provider CBRE acted as broker and consultant for the letting in Erding.
