Transportation by gravity: Item receives the IF Design Award 2024

Item Industrietechnik is once again one of the winners of the IF Design Award in 2024. The Solingen-based family business has already won the coveted award over ten times.

This year, the award went to the overhead conveyor system. It enables particularly efficient provision of materials which, due to their irregular shape, are better transported hanging over a conveyor line. The overhead conveyor system is cost-effective, flexible to use and space-saving, making it an alternative to transportation in small load carriers.

The conveyed goods only move from A to B with the help of gravity. To do this, it is attached to carriages that are suspended in track profiles. Using intelligent connection technology, the running rails are attached to a frame made from the D30 profile tube system at an angle of 3°. This creates transport trolleys or racks with an integrated overhead conveyor system. Even longer conveyor sections can be realized easily. The system is efficient, low-maintenance and environmentally friendly, as no additional drive is required. The individual elements meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.

All components of the overhead conveyor system have rounded and coordinated contours. These product features result in ergonomic and safe working conditions. The working height can be individually adjusted. The system is easy to understand and quick to set up. The overhead conveyor system is characterized by durable materials and a clear design. The shape and colour scheme harmonize with the other components in the Item modular system. Large radii ensure a pleasant feel. Ultimately, it was not only the functional advantages that convinced the jury, but also the high-quality choice of materials, the sophisticated concept and the clear design.
