New factory for Interroll in Suzhou
Interroll is taking the next steps in the Asia-Pacific region: Interroll Suzhou is opening a new production site in the Suzhou area, while the existing local plant is scheduled to close in 2022.
A total of 25 million Swiss francs is to be invested in the new plant, which will be wholly owned by Interroll. This will increase Interroll's production capacity and thus strengthen its readiness for future growth in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2019, about half of Interroll Suzhou's production was supplied to companies outside the People's Republic of China, such as major projects for the Korean e-commerce sector. Production at the new plant is scheduled to start in early 2022.
Capacity doubled
The new site will be wholly owned by Interroll and is located in the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) development zone, around twelve kilometers southwest of the current site. With around 22,000 square meters of floor space, the available capacity will be doubled.
"We are preparing to operate a state-of-the-art site here with improved capacity and new production processes that also prioritizes the needs of customers and employees," says Ben Xia, Vice President Asia Pacific of the Interroll Group. "The concept for our new factory includes a training center as well as showrooms and testing facilities."
Automation and digitalization
The production processes in Suzhou will cover the entire range of the product portfolio. The new plant will also be home to a new regional competence center for technopolymers and subsystems. "We will take advantage of a number of opportunities to increase productivity by implementing focused automated and semi-automated processes right from the start of production," says Xia. "The new production facility will also enable us to shorten delivery times for our customers in the region," says Xia.
