In 1949, Fernand and Alice Habegger founded Habasit AG in Basel, Switzerland. They recognized the industries' need for high-quality, synthetic drive and conveyor belts that could be fitted to machines more easily and safely. Their success led to the founding of the German subsidiary Habasit GmbH in 1974 with 18 employees in the Rhine-Main area.

Today, around 300 employees work for the company in Germany. Over the years, production capacities have been repeatedly adjusted and the workforce increased due to strong growth. At the beginning of the 1990s, around 80 employees were already working for the German market. In 1999, the company moved to its new headquarters in Eppertshausen, which was repeatedly expanded, most recently with the Advanced Fabrication Center for customized production. In May 2023, the new solar plant was put into operation, whose 1,030 individual modules produce up to 412 kWp of clean electricity annually, saving around 256 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

The Habasit portfolio focuses on products such as HabaSync timing belts, HabasitLink plastic modular belts, HabaFlow fabric conveyor and processing belts and HabaDrive power transmission belts. A large central warehouse in Eppertshausen ensures prompt supply to the markets; in-house production enables the manufacture or adaptation of materials to the often individual requirements of customers.

Habasit Germany offers belt solutions for sensitive production areas such as the food industry or conveying tasks in the logistics and automotive industries. According to the company, they are used to transport almost all goods in intralogistics worldwide, from the smallest parts to cars.
