The two frozen food specialists apetito and Kardex Mlog have numerous projects in common. Among other things, apetito was able to put one of the highest and largest deep-freeze warehouses in Germany into operation at the Rheine site in 2017 with the TK08 warehouse - built by the general contractor Kardex Mlog. "However, the optimization of our logistics processes is also a continuous process of small and larger steps," says Thorsten Bischof, Project Manager at apetito.

One of these steps is the current expansion and modernization of the conveyor technology. Robust and powerful components for use in the deep-freeze area are being installed. These are adapted to the throughput of the warehouses to ensure a smooth material flow. The new vertical transfer units achieve an output of over 100 pal/h, the corner transfer units around 160 pal/h and the conveying speeds are between 0.3 m/s and 0.5 m/s - depending on requirements.

Just as seamlessly as the components were integrated into the existing building, the work itself was also integrated into the processes on site: The work was largely carried out during ongoing operations. For more extensive project phases, such as the replacement and commissioning of vertical converters, non-operational times are used so that production can continue uninterrupted for the entire duration of the work.
