Start-up with potential
EU promotes innovation from cellumation
The European Innovation Council (EIC) is supporting cellumation GmbH from Bremen in the further development of its highly innovative cellular conveyor technology. In doing so, the European Union (EU) is recognizing cellumation as one of the most innovative start-ups in Europe.
This year, the EIC selected 44 young companies and their innovations from more than 2,000 applicants from 40 countries - including cellumation GmbH. With this support, more than two million euros will flow from Brussels to the Bremen-based high-tech company. The EU is financing the further development of the cellular conveyor and positioning system
"celluveyor" as a pioneering European innovation for flexible material flow in intelligent logistics centers and factories. "We see the selection as an enormous confirmation and award of our work to date as well as a confirmation of the great potential of our technology," says cellumation CEO Dr. Hendrik Thamer. "The funds will flow in particular into the further development of our technology. This will enable us to significantly expand the flexibility and application possibilities of the celluveyor once again."
With this award, the European Innovation Council has been supporting innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with high market and growth potential as well as European and global ambitions over a one to two-year project period since 2014. The applications are evaluated in the review and selection process according to the criteria of innovative strength ("Excellence"), marketability ("Impact") and quality of implementation ("Implementation"). Among other things, the focus is on the European added value and unique selling points of the innovations. cellumation passed the two-stage selection process with its newly developed "celluveyor", one of the most flexible, efficient and space-saving material flow solutions in the world. It is based on small hexagonal conveyor modules, each with three specially arranged drive wheels. They can be used to steer the conveyed goods in any direction. The conveyor modules with their hexagonal structures can be conveniently clicked together and joined to form any conveyor system geometry. Special feature: With the individual wheel control, the drive wheels are each driven separately. This means that packages can be moved completely freely on one level and all conveyor technology tasks can be realized with one system.
