The RFID pallet that monitors temperature and vibrations
Falkenhahn AG, a manufacturer of Euro pallets, presented a new combined monitoring solution at LogiMAT. Three technologies are integrated into Euro pallets 800 x 1,200 mm in series production: Temperature logger, shock logger and RFID transponder. This is the first time that a combined solution has been offered for the rapid verification of a product-friendly logistics chain.

The new World KombiLog pallet combines RFID communication with merchandise management systems with the monitoring of temperature progression as well as vibrations and inclinations of the pallet and load. This combination monitoring system with identification function is designed for quality logistics for food, pharmaceuticals, electronics and art: the tamper-proof data logger documents the monitoring data collected, which is then automatically read out via RFID and assigned to the load. There is no need to install and return attached loggers, the sensors are protected but still close to the load and can be read out via RFID.
Use in quality logistics

Optimum protection of the product during the logistics chain is the goal when using World KombiLog pallets: foodstuffs require an unbroken cold chain and can segregate due to vibrations, pharmaceuticals can spoil due to over- or under-temperature and leak if they are too inclined, electronic devices can be damaged by rough impacts and outside their storage temperature, valuable works of art are often fragile, must not leave their climate and require the smoothest transportation. It is therefore important for shippers, logistics providers and recipients to be able to quickly and easily determine compliance with prescribed temperatures and vibration-free transportation.
Easy handling and quick verification for transportation
Previously, tagging was required to identify the palletized load, and the load had to be equipped with a thermal logger and a shock logger and then removed. With the new World KombiLog pallet, these operations are now combined: The pallet not only contains the RFID hardware for automated tracking & tracing of the pallet and load, but it also simultaneously measures and stores both the temperature on the loaded pallet and its shocks and inclinations. By loading World KombiLog pallets, sensitive loads are already equipped and "married" with the necessary tagging and logging hardware. Later, this hardware is simply returned with the pallet return. With closed pallet loops, there is already considerable potential for savings during handling, and not just in terms of avoiding damage.
Complete solutions to start
Micro-Sensys GmbH in Erfurt offers complete, ready-to-use systems for RFID logging systems. Transponders, sensors and data loggers, read/write devices and software tools are tailored to the tasks, combined into suitable solutions and integrated into existing plants and IT systems. World KombiLog pallets from Falkenhahn AG in Geisa are the technology carriers for automation. Integrated into the RFID system, they are the key to the decisive proof of the continuous, product-friendly transport chain. In this context, these intelligent load carriers offer remarkably short amortization times.
