PAKi is one of the largest pooling specialists for exchangeable and standardized load carriers in Europe and, together with its partners, operates a network of around 10,000 pooling stations that guarantees access to pallets and boxes throughout Europe.

David Mayo joins PAKi, a Faber Halbertsma Group company, from CHEP. He has worked at CHEP for a total of 18 years, most recently in the role of Vice President for Global Accounts and Intercontinental Business. Prior to his career in civilian logistics, Mayo spent 19 years in the British Armed Forces. He graduated from R.M.A. Sandhurst in 1981 and subsequently served in various capacities in the UK, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea and Nepal.

Mayo emphasizes: "We want to ensure that we are the preferred supplier of load carriers throughout Europe. We achieve this through a sustainable business model, which in turn flourishes and protects the environment at the same time." If you think of pooling as sharing resources, the principle behind it is easier to understand, says Mayo: "It's about cooperation between customers: the more customers we have, the better. You can think of PAKi as a bank for pallets. As such, we can rent, sell, buy back, invest in, upgrade and transfer our goods and those of all participants in the pool back and forth indefinitely and for the benefit of all." This gives PAKi a significant investment advantage as well as dense local coverage and flexibility to efficiently serve customers anywhere through the open pool. "The open pool offers opportunities that go far beyond what closed systems can do at the customer site, which by their nature are inefficient." Looking to the future, Mayo says that PAKi is on the cusp of the next "evolutionary step" in terms of growth. Together with the team, he is responsible for introducing new processes and operational procedures to support the company in its next steps.

Christian Agasse, Managing Director of PAKi, says: "David Mayo is well versed in providing high quality sharing services and managing pooling providers. PAKi is already a European leader in open pooling and Mayo's expertise will help us to improve our offering and strengthen our position in the market." With the support of the new COO, PAKi wants to make the costs for the entire supply chain calculable and keep administrative expenses to a minimum - without losses or unnecessary waiting times at the ramp and with clear quality criteria. In this way, the desired quantities and qualities of load carriers can always be made available throughout Europe.

Agasse says: "Mayo's tasks also include thinking beyond pallets or boxes and identifying value creation potential that we can exploit for ourselves and our customers. The proximity we already have to our customers today shows that we have a good market position that will allow us to grow further. In doing so, we want to utilize the IT and the amount of unique data we have in new and original ways to ensure that our proven business model is scalable throughout. David Mayo is joining us at a very exciting time!"

David Mayo will also be entrusted with strengthening ties with vPOOL, which PAKi acquired at the beginning of the year. The Wörnitz-based company specializes in the sale and rental of containers, crates and pallets of all kinds for the meat and food industry.
