R&D for more sustainability
One million ACP trays delivered
Vanderlande is strongly committed to sustainability: an important step in this effort is the production of the millionth automated case picking (ACP) tray made entirely from recycled plastic.
After two years of testing at the Veghel and Siegen sites and in collaboration with a supplier, Vanderlande introduced trays and shelves made entirely of post-consumer polypropylene (PCP). Each individual tray contributes to the reduction of emissions with aCO2 saving of 5.2 kilograms. With the millionth ACP tray, the company is celebrating the saving of 1.6 million kilograms of virgin polypropylene.
One challenge in production was perfecting the PCP base; the right plastic mixture, correct welding and achieving the desired color and gloss proved to be complicated. The product is in line with the company's sustainability goals.
