Internal logistics is a decisive cost factor for many companies. This is the case at Ellen Wille, the European market leader for second hair products.

But where do you start when optimizing intralogistics processes, what goals should be defined and what measures are necessary to achieve them? To answer these questions, the company works together with LogBer. The logistics consultants offer a warehouse check-up.

The logistical challenges in companies are always very individual. The warehouse check-up therefore begins with an assessment of the current situation, in which the company and project goals are formulated. For example, Ellen Wille had a complex IT infrastructure that required many manual interventions and intermediate steps in the process and offered little transparency in processing. More importantly, the capacity limit in the warehouse had been reached. This stood in the way of further growth and the future requirements for batch and stock separation of the product portfolios also used in the medical environment.

Quick stocktaking and recommendations for action

"During the warehouse check-up, we look at the potential and challenges of logistics in the company and then prepare recommendations for action. We always show different conceptual approaches and initial rough solution proposals as well as possible variants in comparison in order to create a decision-making basis for the next steps," explains Malte Kröger, Managing Director at LogBer. "The warehouse check-up offers companies the opportunity to generate new solution approaches, validate ideas and obtain an investment framework for budgeting projects in a short time interval of usually no more than two months. In the case of Ellen Wille, strategic decisions on location, automation technology and IT infrastructure could be evaluated, budgeted and scheduled within two months," he adds.

During the warehouse check-up, the areas of infrastructure, warehouse and process technology, warehouse management and control systems as well as personnel, organization and processes are analyzed in an end-to-end approach. Important for the customer: They not only receive a long-term schedule with the various measures - at Ellen Wille as a phased concept designed for 2025/2030 - but also an investment cost estimate. This is based on the experience gained from countless projects and direct contact with many companies and manufacturers from various sectors.

"The optimization of internal logistics processes and capacities was a basic requirement for ensuring our dynamic growth in the future. LogBer's warehouse check-up provided us with a very detailed analysis of the current situation," explains Ralf Billharz, CEO of Ellen Wille. At the same time, the company benefits from the different future scenarios that the warehouse check-up reveals: "They are a very good basis for making decisions about location, technology and internal organization. We see the warehouse check-up as a logistics tool that grows with us.

LogBer's expertise made a decisive contribution to implementing processes very quickly and identifying internal dysfunctions. As a whole team, we have benefited together from a very steep learning curve."
