Kastner & Öhler expands central warehouse with SSI Schäfer
Kastner & Öhler, one of the largest fashion and sports retailers in Austria, has commissioned SSI Schaefer to equip its central warehouse in Graz. A solution is being implemented that will enable shorter delivery times and increased efficiency in order processing for the growing online business.
Founded in 1873, the family-owned company Kastner & Öhler has achieved international significance in the fashion world through innovation and quality and has also established itself as a leading sports retailer under the Gigasport brand. It is the largest fashion and sports company in Austrian ownership, with its headquarters and central warehouse in Graz. The company has a total of 33 locations in Styria, Carinthia, Burgenland and Upper Austria as well as two outlets in Graz. Customers can access a wide range of products in the respective areas via the Kastner & Öhler and Gigasport online stores. The new shipping solution can handle over 10,000 shipments per day.
The decision to award the contract to SSI Schaefer was reinforced by the fact that the intralogistics expert can supply the project locally with the required solution components from its location in the north of Graz. In addition to the efficiency and flexibility of the logistics concept, the ergonomics factor was also convincing, writes SSI Schaefer. The project is scheduled for completion and commissioning in mid-October 2020.
